Apple hat offiziell in Emails an User angekündigt Final Cut Pro 7 nach einem OS-Upgrade auf High Sierra nicht mehr zu unterstützen, d.h. es wird dann nicht mehr starten. Apple will die Nutzer dieser alten Version von Final Cut - das letzte Update von Final Cut Pro 7 ist inzwischen 8 Jahre her - dazu bewegen auf das neue, 2011 eingeführte Final Cut Pro X umzusteigen.
Videocutter haben allerdings mit dem Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro und dem auch in einer kostenlosen Voll-Version erhältlichen Blackmagic DaVinCi Resolve noch andere interessante professionelle NLE-Alternativen.
Final Cut Pro 7 User, welche das Programm weiter nutzen wollen (zum Beispiel um den unbeschränkten Zugriff auf alte Projekte zu behalten), müssen entweder auf zukünftige OS-Updates verzichten oder auf einen in-offiziellen Patch warten, welcher die willkürliche Beschränkung von Apple beseitigt. Our records show that you may be using applications included in Final Cut Studio. We wanted to share some important compatibility information about these applications and macOS High Sierra, which will be available this fall.
Older versions of Apple pro video applications — including applications in Final Cut Studio — will not launch on a computer running macOS High Sierra.
New versions of Apple pro video applications — including Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and Compressor 4 — are compatible with macOS High Sierra. You can purchase these applications on the Mac App Store.
